Summer Cabbage’s are ball head or drum head types of cabbages. Indoors – You can sow seeds early between End January and February Indoors for an early harvest in May. Outdoors – Sow seeds in an outdoor raised bed in March and April for harvests from June to September. Reasons for Growing Summer Cabbage Coleslaw – Grow your own Coleslaw. Sow carrots & onions by February along with summer cabbage to get homegrown coleslaw harvested in Late May/Early June. Quick Crop by May – I’m sowing Summer Cabbages early, to harvest small cabbages by Late May. Then I’ll still have time to plant out beans, squash and pumpkins.
